Amsterdam’s Schipol, first opening in 1920, was expanded in the late 90s. It retains it’s status as Europe’s most user friendly gateway. Not only is it KLM’s international hub, but low cost carrier EasyJet has invaded as well. I visited in January 2003 and was impressed with it’s efficient layout and passenger services. Outside of Germany, it is one of the few European airports competitive with those in Asia. The airport features a small aviation museum and was the headquarters of Fokker.

KLM 737
KLM operates a “very Boeing” fleet of 747-300s, 747-400s, 767-300s, and this 737-300. The only non Boeing plane in this image belongs to that of it’s US Based partner, Northwest.
KLM Fokker-100
Understandably KLM is one of the world’s largest operators of the Dutch made Fokker 100. Even with the demise of this venerable manufacturer, KLM remains loyal to the type.

Iran Air
Iran Air operates A-300-600R’s to Tehran, Iran. The airline still operates its 1970s era fleet of Boeing 727s, 747s, and 747 SPs.
