Palau International Airport
Palau became an independent republic in 1994 after nearly 50 years under the auspices of the United States. It was the site of massive battles between the U.S and Japan during WWII but is now a world renowned tourist destination for divers. It is primarily served by airlines from Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, and of course Continental Micronesia. The small airport has basically one gate, but it is equipped with jetway.

Palau Micronesian Airlines Boeing 737-300
Formed in 2004, Palau Micronesian currently operates this sole aircraft. The airline flies to Guam, Japan, Cairns, Australia, and Manila from its Palau base. The number of destinations is impressive considering the one aircraft and that it flies only six days per week. Palau is expecting a second in the very near future. My apologies for the blurriness of the photo, but the tarmac is barely lit.
Continental Micronesia Boeing 737-800
For years Continental has a virtual monopoly on the Micronesian Islands. Though prices are high and competition lean, the airline offers excellent service. Because of connections onward to Guam and the U.S. mainland, most flights arrive around 10pm in the evening and depart around 2:00AM. This Boeing is seen on the pushback to Guam in 2004. Read more about Air Mike at the Continental page.
