Norman Minetta San Jose International Airport
SJC is the smallest airport of the 3 Bay Area airports. At one time, American operated a hub here in 1988 following its acquisition of AirCal. Those slots went to Reno Air, which American acquired in 1998. SJC became an American focus city with service to the East Coast and even Tokyo, which was discontinued in 2006. Southwest is now the largest operator here with AA in 2nd position. These 2 airlines operate from the mid 1990s vintage Terminal A. The others from the outdated Terminal C, which is due to be replaced by a new Terminal B. The airport is named for former DOT head, San Jose Mayor, and Congressman Norman Y Minetta.
