Tampa/St. Petersburg International Airport
The Tampa/St. Pete Airport is the 4th busiest in Florida behind MIA, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale. The current airside / landside configuration was launched in 1971. A system of trams connects the 1971 vintage central landside terminal with 5 airside concourses. The airside concourses are generally modern, spacious structures as the older concourses are pulled down. US Airways was for years the dominant carrier with Delta bringing up the rear. Southwest has now taken the lead, serving Tampa since 1996. International services are flown by British Airways to London and Condor to Germany. Limited flights to the Bahamas and Mexico are also offered.
Tampa Approach
The TPA airport is situated in Tampa near downtown in a very busy stretch of airspace. On approach, you pass over McDill AFB and St Petersburg/Clearwater International, a mostly charter airport, all within 10 miles of TPA.
US Airways A-321
US Airways was the #1 carrier at TPA for many years until the arrival of Southwest. US Airways serves Charlotte, D.C, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cancun from the airport. US Airways also has a A, B, and C Check hangar at TPA. US Air is the only U.S. operator of the Airbus A-321.

Southwest Airlines 737 NG
Sporting it’s new Canyon Blue livery, this Southwest 737 NG is in the midst of it’s 20 minute turn around. Southwest is now the #1 carrier at TPA, only serving the airport since 1996.
