Tampa/St.
Petersburg International Airport
The Tampa/St. Pete Airport is the 4th busiest in Florida behind MIA, Orlando,
and Ft. Lauderdale. The current airside / landside configuration was launched
in 1971. A system of trams connects the 1971 vintage central landside terminal
with 5 airside concourses. The airside concourses are generally modern,
spacious structures as the older concourses are pulled down. US Airways
was for years the dominant carrier with Delta bringing up the rear. Southwest
has now taken the lead, serving Tampa since 1996. International services
are flown by British Airways to London and Condor to Germany. Limited flights
to the Bahamas and Mexico are also offered. |
