| April 2000 America West had reshaped itself as a hybrid mainline/low-cost carrier by the late 90s and had added a new mini-hub in Columbus, Ohio. The fleet consists of a 737s, A-320s, and 757s. |

| April 2003 America West is one of the stronger survivors of the ongoing airline crisis. At this point, it had dismantled its Columbus, Ohio hub. But, it had introduced an innovative fare structure and even pioneered selling meals onboard in the U.S. In May 2005, America West and US Airways announced a merger to form a new lower nationwide airline. America West will be the controlling party, with headquaters in Phoenix. However, the more well known and geographically encompassing US Airways name will survive. Hubs will be in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Charlotte with focus cities of Fort Lauderdale, Washington D.C., and Pittsburg. |
