Heritage Museum The Delta Heritage Museum is located at Delta's World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia in the airline's original 1940's hangers. It has a fairly extensive collection of artifacts and aircraft, but due to the current economic climate, is in a holding position. Over time as things improve, the ambitious master plan to make a museum comparable to American's CR Smith in Dallas will hopefully come to fruition. Already, it has a more vast collection of actual aircraft. It is generally not open to the public, but a call to Sally or Kim there may get you in. They are very helpful and rightfully proud of what has been accomplished so far. |

Delta
Ship 41 Delta's glorious original DC-3, "Ship 41" was purchased in the early 90's and underwent many years of restoration to the flyable perfection that exists today. It is the most perfectly restored DC-3 in the world, frequenting air shows and winning award after award. So exact is the restoration, that new rivets were fabricated to match the original ones. Also, in every seat back is the same original issue of Life magazine from 1946. This lovingly maintained DC-3 was undergoing maintenace when these photos were taken. It has a full-time staff of 3 mechanics and is flown by retired Delta pilots. |

Store Flight Deck This flight deck is perfectly lit up, with all controls still movable down to the radio dials and throttle quadrants. That's me enjoying myself in this one of a kind piece. |

| Boeing 727 Model This 727 is featured in "Delta Shuttle" colors. Delta purchased the Pan Am Shuttle in 1991. All 727's were retired in 2003. At one time, Delta operated the world's largest fleet of 727's. Quite a feat considering it didn't have any in the fleet until the 1972 merger with Northeast. |

Delta DC-9 and DC-10 Both of these aircraft reflect industry firsts: Delta was the launch customer for the DC-9, back in 1969. Delta, twice, has been the only airline ever to operate all 3 first generation wide bodies: the L1011, DC-10, and 747 in one fleet. The DC-10 flew for Delta from 1971-1976 as a placeholder for the L1011 and from 1987-91 when it absorbed Western Airlines. |
