John Travolta (with the webmaster) Filming TLC Airbus A-380 Special
My day job happened to coincide with my passion when my network, TLC commissioned a 3-part series on the building of the Airbus A-380. The first installment premiered in June, 2004. We were extremely honored to have fellow aviation enthusiast John Travolta host our show. Most enthusiasts are aware of his passion for the field, especially for Qantas, and that he is a licensed pilot on many types including the 747-400 and the 707 of which he owns one. His passion and knowledge extends well past the cockpit. He has an encyclopedic memory of fleets, routes, airlines, and airline history. Beyond that, he is an extremely down-to-earth and wonderful person. In my 3 hours, I spent with him filming he was incredibly gracious and generous of his time. We shot these images at Dallas Love Field in April, 2004. Once complete we all went airborne for an hour of manuevers on the Frontier Airlines provided sports charter A-320.
A380 model for John Travolta
We presented this gift to JT. Its a custom built A380 model with a current Qantas scheme on one side and a classic V Jet livery on the other. The V Jet livery is based on his Boeing 707, as is the custom reg N380JT.

John Travolta's Gulfstream G-2
The bumper sticker on Travolta's G-2 should read "My other plane is a 707!" When our shoot ended, JT bolted across the runway and into the cockpit of his G-2 and flew off. Unfortunately for us, the 707 was getting a check and respray in New Mexico during our shoot.

Blue Moon A-319
Frontier Airlines operates the Blue Moon aircraft under their 121 Ops.
Specs. They provide the flight crew, flight attendants and mechanics.
The aircraft is owned by Dick Page who is the former owner of MGM and
Champion Air. Airbus arranged to have this jet flown in as our rather expensive "prop" for the A-380 series shoot. This jet was being flown on behalf of the NBA Timberwolves team at this time. This plane can be seen at its home base on the Minneapolis/St. Paul page.
Blue Moon A-320 Winglets
Winglets complete with static discharger details are shown here. These save 1-2% in fuel burn annually over non-equipped aircraft. Early A320-100s did not sport these.

Obviously the "swirly-q" gfx on the center of the fan, is a visual safety indicator to deter people or objects from approaching a turning fan.

The executive interior for sports charters is shown to great affect here.

60 Degree Turn
Following the Travolta shoot, Airbus and Blue Sky treated us to a Dallas Love to Dallas Love flight where we undertook maneuvers such as sixty degree turns and low speed flight.
